Work History

Find a solution, create a new one if not exist

My primary task is always fix the problem. Find a solution when the client said: “I have a problem”.

Tools, tools and another tools

I had a chance to write code for IBM AS/400 systems in 1990. It used a column-based programming languages called RPG/400.

I used Borland Paradox, Borland Pascal, MSDOS and Novel when PC revolution came. I used Informix in Unix for a textile company. Then I used Visual Studio, Visual Basic, C#, Delphi when Windows 98 came to the scene. I called my job title as “Desktop Developer”. Windows was our new passion until to Microsoft’s Vista crash.

I focused on business problems using ERP softwares and programming technologies. Often the demands were to solve problems quickly with the tools you have. I had a lot of experience in solve the business problems and creating solutions.

I started my own business at 1998. I realized internet was next big thing. I started to develop web sites limited tools and technologies. Microsoft Frontpage, Macromedia Dreamviewer and Flash were popular tools. Internet is very powerful tool for learning new technologies. ASP.NET, PHP, Symfony, Laravel and WordPress were my new tools. I had Windows and Linux servers to host my clients’ web sites.

Today I see many tools and technologies are no longer relevant. I learned and used them. Trends come and go. But some tools still relevant such as Ruby on Rails, Python.

I always love to learn new things. My biggest skill is to learn a tool quickly. I used to brake my toys as a child. Why ? Because I wanted to know how they work!

Data is always the king

Today I see many tools and technologies are no longer relevant. I learned and used them. Trends come and go. The biggest lesson I learned is to solve the problem as quickly as possible.

Now I use Ruby on Rails and Python for web development, data scraping, data automation. I have been developing web sites with pleasure for 24 years.

Working Principles

Over the years of being involved with computers and software, I have developed some basic habits and principles.

I drop the nonsense, the branding silliness and focus on the rules and principles that will get the job done in the best way. That is makes a project successful for me.

  • The details are important for me. Because it’s part of my job. I prefer to wait until I understand all the details. This is my way.
  • I love my job. You can’t be successful without loving your job. I respect who love their job.
  • I use the right technology for the right job. Popularity is tempting. But You can only use if it’s right for your mission. I don’t believe in brand loyalty. I believe in the right solution.
  • Big tech companies provide offer powerful and advanced technologies. But these are not taboo for me. I prefer open source technologies such as Linux, Ruby on Rails.
